A good SWOT Analysis requires deep understanding of the business or project, and a real insight into the market and environment in which it operates. A quality SWOT Analysis should be specific and succinct, focusing on the most significant factors affecting a business or project. It should also be realistic and balanced, not glossing over the negatives to focus on the positives, or vice versa.

Additionally, a good SWOT Analysis should be actionable. The aim isn’t just to create a list of pros and cons, but to use this analysis to create a strategy that capitalizes on the business’s advantages, improves its weaknesses, exploits opportunities and mitigates threats.
